Labradors and Friends Dog Rescue

My name is Lucas.

Forever home wanted. Meet Lucas! Lucas's story is truly a very sad one. He had been seen wandering about in a residential area back on January 16th. The finder said he was very scared but managed to coax him with hotdogs. He was taken to the San Bernardino shelter. On January 26th, he was brutally attacked by his kennel mate who latched onto his neck, dragging him back and forth in the kennel. To get the dog to release Lucas took two shelter staff with catch poles. Throughout all of this, Lucas never fought back. Luckily, he only suffered a laceration on his right ear, it could have been so much worse.

As happens often anymore in this same shelter, due to Lucas's injuries, he was immediately put at risk. Add to this, Lucas came down with an upper respiratory infection and was very sick. Since this particular shelter does not have a veterinarian on site, we knew his life was in danger.  We got a plan in place to exit Lucas and get him the medical care he needed. Lucas was pulled from the shelter on February 10th and has now fully recovered. Since he is somewhat new to us, we are still getting to know him. His is very mild mannered and gentle.

This sweet, gentle soul deserves a loving home after all he's been through. We are unsure of his age; the veterinarians that have seen him believe him to be in the 5–7-year-old range. If you think Lucas sounds like a dog you'd be interested in meeting, please fill out an application at www.labradorsandfriends.org. Lucas is located in Southern California.
